Re-sequence of the Graduated Driver Training & Licensing System (GDT & L)
From 9th October 2017 the Department of Transport (DoT) will implement a number of changes to the current learner driver's assessments. The DoT hopes these changes will better prepare it's applicants for their life experiences on WA's roads. All registered learners (current and future) will be informed of the new legislative changes to our current GDT & L System.
In an attempt to support and guide our clients, Get Smart Driving School has listed below a brief summary of the legislative changes planned to take effect from 9th October 2017.
From 9th October 2017 novice drivers will be expected to have completed at least five (5) hours of supervised night-time driving, before being eligible to attempt the Practical Driving Assessment (PDA).
17+ years and 50+ hours
From 9 October 2017 applicants must be 17 years of age or older and have completed a minimum of 50 hours of supervised driving to be eligible to attempt the PDA.

From 9th October 2017 all applicants will need to have completed their Hazard Perception Test (HPT) BEFORE completing their PDA.
